WHAT IS WAYFINDING?

As Gina Thorne and Grace Filiss share in the course introduction, Wayfinding is rooted in the ancient Polynesian navigational tradition of traveling vast oceans using deep knowledge, intuition, and observation.

At Wayfinder, we translate this philosophy into behavioral health outreach:

Ethics, empathy, and clarity become your compass.

You navigate complex systems, turbulent circumstances, and diverse needs, all while guiding individuals and families toward healing. You don’t have to do it alone. Wayfinder gives you tools, strategies, and a supportive professional community so you can show up with purpose and professionalism every day.

About Your Facilitators

Gina de Peralta Thorne, MS Wayfinder Founder/Creator

With more than 20 years of experience in behavioral health, Gina Thorne is a Business Development Coach and Operations Consultant who has worked across residential and outpatient, for-profit and non-profit treatment settings. She has held senior and C-level leadership roles, partnering closely with executive teams to strengthen systems, improve census sustainability, and align mission with growth.

Gina specializes in coaching and training business development, admissions, marketing, and alumni teams—helping organizations repair operational gaps, build ethical outreach strategies, and lead with clarity and confidence. Her approach is practical, relational, and highly customized, supporting leaders and teams in building strong cultures, effective systems, and communities that prioritize both client care and long-term organizational health.

Grace Filiss, Wayfinder Co-Creator

Since 2010, Grace has dedicated her career to the field of eating disorders. She has held various roles in operations and outreach across different levels of care, including outpatient, intensive outpatient, and partial hospitalization. This extensive experience has provided her with a deep understanding of eating disorder treatment across the spectrum and a robust network of resources nationwide.

With a fervent commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), Grace took the lead in establishing the DEI committee at a prominent Eating Disorder program in Colorado. The committee's primary goal was to enhance the organization's ability to support underrepresented communities effectively. She currently holds the Certified Diversity Professional (CDP)® certification from the Institute of Diversity Certification and serves as a founding member of the Colorado Community Collaborative for Eating Disorders, as well as a dedicated Board Member of The Eating Disorder Foundation.
